Tseng-Yi Chen holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from National Tsing Hua University. Currently, he serves as an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Central University. Prior to his current position, from February 2020 to July 2023, Dr. Chen worked as an assistant professor in the same department. Before joining National Central University, he held the position of assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Yuan Ze University, from February 2018 to January 2020. Additionally, he gained valuable experience as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Information Science from July 2015 to January 2018. Dr. Chen's primary research interests revolve around embedded and large-scale storage system designs, emerging memory and storage technologies, as well as non-volatile memory systems for machine learning.
Dr. Chen has authored more than 60 research papers, primarily published in prestigious journals (e.g., IEEE TC, TVLSI, TCAD, ACM TECS, TODAES, and TOS) and premier conferences (e.g., IEEE HPCA, ACM/IEEE DAC, ISLPED, CODES+ISSS, and CASES). His work has garnered significant recognition, including Best Paper Awards at premier conferences (ACM/IEEE CASES 2025 and ISLPED 2020) and IEEE NVMSA 2019, as well as a Best Paper Nomination at the premier ACM/IEEE DAC 2016.
In recognition of his research excellence, Dr. Chen received the Outstanding Research Award (2025) and the Distinguished New Faculty Award (2020) from National Central University. He has also been awarded the Project for Excellent Junior Research Investigators by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) for two consecutive terms (2022–2025 and 2025–2028), the NSTC Best Research Paper Award for Postdoctoral Fellows in 2018, and the Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Institute of Information & Computing Machinery in 2016. He regularly serves as a reviewer for top-tier journals including IEEE TC, TVLSI, TCAD, TPDS, TETC, ACM TOS, and TACO.
